News for Mountin's Piggly Wiggly

In the beginning of April, Jerry Mountin started giving away gas points at Mountin's Piggly Wiggly. Several days later Diane Anderson came in shopping. Not only was she enthused about getting gas for less, she also liked the new blue shirts all the employees were wearing to promote gas points. The shirts read, “Gas for 1 cent. Ask me how!!” Diane saw Jerry as she finished shopping and expressed how much she would like one of those blue shirts. Jerry smiled, and then he told her she would have to be the first customer to get gas for one cent and then she would get a shirt.
As Diane left the store she decided to take Jerry up on his challenge. She was bound and determined to be the first person to get gas for 1 cent. She also promised herself not to buy anything she would not use and she hasn't. She just shops as she usually does and the points started to accumulate.
Now Diane always used the Renew gas from the beginning—before the Pig Points came into play. From talking with alot of people about the program, they're not sure about the gas and think there is only E-85 gas available. She wants to let others know that it's the same gas as Kwik Trip. She also stated she gets better gas mileage with the Renew gas.
Diane had a bit of a hard time getting the gas though. Everytime she thought she was close, the gas prices would go up. She said the gas prices went up several more times, but each time she was even more determined to succeed.
Finally the day came—she pulled up to the pump and pumped 15 gallons of gas for 14 cents. As soon as she finished, she came into Mountin's Piggly Wiggly to proclaim her victory with a huge smile on her face! Jerry was thrilled to present her with her “Gas for 1 cent” shirt. (Even though she got her gas for less than 1 cent a gallon)
Diane works at the Carriage House on Main Street. She takes her receipt with her every where she goes, just to prove she DID get gas for the great price of less than 1 cent per gallon.
She also heard her success story on the radio—and she felt fantastic!
She is telling everyone how they can do it too.

Mary Walston of Mayville was announced as the winner of the 1,000,000 Pig Points giveaway at Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly. Customers could sign up at Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly or were automatically entered every time they scanned their Piggly Wiggly Preferred Club Card at the store.

With the high price of gas it couldn’t come at a better time for the lucky winner. Mary will be able to use her Pig Points to pay only nine tenths of a cent per gallon of gas. If she fuels up to the maximum of 15 gallons, she will only pay 14 cents.

Owner Jerry Mountin, estimates that this will be enough Pig Points to fill-up her car approximately 10 times. Mountin added, “Since the program started on March 4th, we’ve already given over $18,000 in fuel discounts to customers.”

Customers earn Pig Points with their Preferred Club Card when they purchase any of the more than 1,000 participating items throughout Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly. Each participating product has a specially marked tag indicating how much you will save on gas by purchasing the item. There isn’t any limit to the number of Pig Points a customer can earn. Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly is also running the Pig Points Brewers Home Run promotion, where customers can Save 4 cents per gallon of gas for every Homerun that the Brewers hit on Sundays. Customers can receive the Home Run Bonus coupons by spending $50 or more between Wednesday and Saturday at Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly. There is a limit of one coupon per week, per household.

The fuel discounts can be redeemed at the Renew E85 station, located in the parking lot of Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly. Renew E85 offers fuel for everyone, including Regular Unleaded plus (89 octane), which can be used in any vehicle that uses unleaded fuel. They also offer E85, which can only be used in Flexible Fuel vehicles.

Mountin commented, “Pig Points allows us to give more back to our loyal customers and give customers another reason to shop at Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly.”
